TARLAC CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) concreted a farm-to-market road (FMR) at barangay Brillante in Paniqui, Tarlac.

It is under the Convergence Program of the agency with the Department of Agriculture.

DPWH Tarlac 1st District Engineer Neil Farala said the project positively impacts the livelihood of farmers in the agricultural community by providing easy passage for their harvested products to the town’s major markets.

“The completion of the 634-meter project will now facilitate the transportation of farm products, primarily rice and vegetables produced by our local farmers, making it easier for delivery to trading centers and consumers,” he added.

Robert Aguilar, a local farmer, expressed the challenges they faced before the road’s construction and underscored the current ease in transporting their products.

“Mahirap po noon, Sir, dahil kung saan-saan po kami nagdaraan noon na ilabas po yung mga produkto naming. Malaking tulong po sa ngayon sir dito sa amin dahil magaan-gaan na po yung mga paglabas po ng mga produkto naming kaya malaking tulong po ito sa amin,” Aguilar shared.

About P9.64 million was allocated from the 2023 General Appropriations Act for the project. (CLJD-PIA 3)
