BALANGA CITY (PIA) — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has concreted a farm-to-market road at barangay Batangas II in Mariveles, Bataan.

The P4.83-million project includes the construction of a Portland cement concrete pavement, spanning 260 meters in length and 6.1 meters in width.

DPWH Bataan Sub (3rd) OIC-District Engineer Maribel Navarro emphasized that this initiative enhances mobility and eases the transport of goods to market centers, significantly contributing to the community’s economic development.

“Transportation of goods from this area to marketplaces is often being delayed due to unpaved roads,” she said.

Navarro also noted that the improved road will provide local farmers with easier and faster mobility and reduce fuel costs.

Meanwhile, DPWH Bataan Sub (3rd) OIC-Assistant District Engineer Henry John Morada highlighted that developing the two-lane rural road exemplifies the department’s dedication to fulfilling the essential requirement for efficient connectivity in agricultural communities.

The project was implemented in convergence with the Department of Agriculture and funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2023. (CLJD/RPQ,PIA Region 3-Bataan)
