BALER, Aurora (PIA) — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a P48.02-million flood control project in Maria Aurora, Aurora, providing crucial protection for Barangay San Jose residents against flooding threats.
The agency built a 460-lineal meter structure along the Malupa River to safeguard the community.
DPWH Aurora District Engineer Roderick Andal explained that the project includes concrete slope protection on a steel sheet pile foundation to prevent scouring, along with ramps to ensure safe access to the river.
“Barangay San Jose is an area under our jurisdiction prone to flooding. By constructing this flood mitigation structure, we can help protect the community from the dangers of such events,” Andal said.
He emphasized that the initiative bolsters community resilience to extreme weather, helping residents recover more quickly.
Funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act, the project also incorporates a revetment for added stability and grouted riprap to control erosion, further fortifying the area against potential floods. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Aurora)
