CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a two-storey multipurpose building (MPB) in Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija.
The P4.8 million infrastructure is now ready for use by Barangay Inspector officials and their stakeholders.
DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Trinidad said it will serve as a venue for public meetings and for the delivery of social services to the community.
“The main objective of the project is to assist local officials in providing better and more efficient services to their more than two thousand constituents,” he added.
“This MPB will be the new home of the barangay officials and it has two offices, a comfort room with proper ventilation, and a spacious session hall to hold their meetings,” Trinidad explained.
Meanwhile, Barangay Health Worker Marites Santos expressed her gratitude for the completion of the building project and shared that they used to have limited space for their sessions in the barangay.
“Noon pong wala pa kaming ganitong building, masyado pong gipit dahil dalawang lamesa lang po iyong napag-gaganapan namin at sa mismong session at sa desk ng aming Barangay Captain, doon lang kami minsan nagkakaroon ng pag-uusap tungkol sa mga nangyayari sa aming Barangay,” Santos remarked.
She also mentioned the importance of having separate offices in the delivery of public services as they can better protect the privacy of each individual who seeks their help.
The project was implemented under the agency’s Basic Infrastructure Program with funding from the 2022 General Appropriations Act. (CLJD-PIA 3)
