GUAGUA, Pampanga (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a slope protection project along the Cabangcalan Section of the Gumain River in Floridablanca, Pampanga.
The 197.38 lineal-meter concrete revetment is connected to the 110.88 lineal-meter structure built in 2022, thus enhancing flood protection for the community.
DPWH Pampanga 2nd District Engineer Gregorio Audea Jr. said the construction of the P29.6-million flood mitigation project was funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2023.
Diya Manacmul, a resident of the area, thanked the agency for the completed infrastructure.
“Noon, talagang umaapaw yung tubig dito. Ngayon, hindi na po siya dumadaloy dahil mataas na at mayroon nang slope protection,” she shared.
Meanwhile, Audea also expressed satisfaction in knowing that residents now feel safer with the completion of this project.
“We are glad that this infrastructure now brings peace of mind and can protect the lives and livelihood of the residents in the area,” he added. (CLJD-PIA 3)
