BALANGA CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed flood mitigation structures along the San Benito Section of Colo River in Dinalupihan, Bataan.

The P82.7-million project funded under the 2022 national budget includes construction of revetment walls in three adjacent sections of the Colo River with a combined length of 656.68 linear meters.

“The newly built river walls are connected to the existing concrete slope protection and with its completion, residents can be assured that flooding incidents may be lessened as these structures now serve as barriers that help minimize damage from water overflow,” DPWH Bataan 1st District Engineer Erlindo Flores Jr. explained.

For his part, San Benito Barangay Captain Carlos Reyes Jr. shared that DPWH’s ongoing construction of flood control structures in their area has a positive impact.

“Malaking bagay po yung nagkaroon po ng flood control, dati po pag umuulan ng bahagya sumasampa na po ang tubig umaabot na po dun sa residente, nagkaroon po talaga ng malaking tulong,” Reyes said.

These flood control structures will also protect national roads in the town from potential flood-related damages, allowing unhindered accessibility even during calamities thus ensuring efficient delivery of essential products and services.
