CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a flood mitigation project along the Coronel River in Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija.

The 830-lineal meter structure is located in barangay Bugnan.

Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Trinidad said the project is significant in protecting the lives and properties of residents, and in preventing the flooding of roads and adjacent low-lying areas during the rainy season and typhoons.

“The successful implementation of this project was made possible through the collaboration of our office with the municipal government of Gabaldon,” he added.

A total of P81.4 million was allocated for the project under the General Appropriations Act of 2022.

DPWH intends to continue the construction of flood mitigation structures to protect the river-bank areas, including homes and agricultural communities.
