CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a total of four slope protection structures in the province of Pampanga.
These are located in the municipalities of Porac, Guagua and Lubao.
DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan said a structure was completed along the banks of Pasig-Potrero River at barangay Manuali in Porac.
It is a 310.31-lineal meter slope protection built on a steel sheet pile foundation in the amount of P96.2 million funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
“The slope protection is connected to the previously completed 232.54-lineal meter structure also in barangay Manuali to prevent flooding and soil erosion in residential areas near the Pasig-Potrero River frequently affected by rapid flow of water caused by excessive raining,” he explained.
In Guagua, slope protection structure on both sides of the Betis River at barangay Sta. Ines measuring a total of 245.6 lineal meters ensure better protection of lives and properties.
It was completed in the amount of P29.39 million funded under the 2023 GAA.
DPWH, through the Pampanga Second District Engineering Office, likewise delivered the completion of two slope protection structures along Sapang Gumi at barangay Sta. Catalina and Patangue Creek at barangay San Antonio in Lubao,
The 263.86-linear meter Sapang Gumi Slope Protection Project, valued at P29.4 million and funded through the 2023 GAA, was built adjacent to another slope protection works in the area.
Meanwhile, the Patangue Creek Slope Protection Project included the construction of slope protection structures on both sides of creek in the amount of P19.59 million sourced from the 2023 national budget. (CLJD-PIA 3)
