CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed two projects in Gapan City worth P172.6 million.
These include the construction of a flood mitigation structure and implementation of a preventive maintenance project.
DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Trinidad said the P96.5-million flood wall project was built at the barangay San Vicente Section of the Peñaranda River.
“It is a 320-linear meter, 8.4-meter high reinforced concrete wall supported by a steel sheet pile foundation. It is expected to reduce flood hazards for neighboring residential areas,” Trinidad furthered.
Moreover, the four-lane, 1.41-kilometer section of Daang Maharlika underwent a comprehensive asphalt overlay, enhancing the city’s road network.
Located in barangays Malimba and Baluarte, the P76.1-million project also includes the installation of thermoplastic pavement markings as part of the engineering scope of work.
“By investing in durable infrastructure, these projects promote sustainability and maximize the value of public funds. The positive impact of this investment will be felt for years to come, benefiting the residents, their businesses, crops, and properties,” Trinidad emphasized.
The projects were funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2023. (CLJD-PIA 3)
