BALANGA CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the construction of two multipurpose covered courts in the province of Bataan.
The facilities, worth a total of P13.86 million, are located in barangays Tugatog in the town of Orani and Balsik in the municipality of Hermosa.
DPWH Bataan 1st District Engineer Erlindo Flores Jr. said these covered courts now serve as ideal venues for gatherings and events including sports games, barangay meetings, and medical outreach, greatly benefiting the communities they serve.
“Barangay Balsik is known to be prone to flooding, thus we have constructed their multipurpose facility with an elevation of 0.50 meters from the natural ground level,” Flores explained.
The covered courts in Tugatog and Balsik have a floor area of 489.60 square meters and 570 square meters, respectively.
Flores furthered that they not only offer ample space for residents but also feature accessibility ramps, basketball backboards, and rings.
These structures can likewise function as an evacuation center during disasters and emergencies. (MJSC/CLJD-PIA 3)
