BALER, Aurora (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) built a 506.9-lineal meter seawall at barangay Diagyan in Dilasag, Aurora.
The infrastructure seeks to ensure the safety of residents living along the coast of the village.
DPWH Aurora District Engineer Roderick Andal said the P19.6-million structure is connected to the existing seawalls.
The project includes construction of slope protection on steel sheet pile foundation, stone masonry, grouted riprap, and embankment.
“The coastal barangay of Diagyan faces the Pacific Ocean making it prone to storm surges brought by heavy rains and typhoons,” Andal shared.
“So, the construction of structures like these is necessary for the safety and protection of residents and their livelihood,” he emphasized.
