BALANGA CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) built a post-harvest facility for Cupang West Multipurpose Cooperative (CWMP) in Balanga City.

The one-storey infrastructure is located in barangay Dangcol.

DPWH Bataan 2nd District Engineer Ulysses Llado said CWMP is one of the leading agricultural cooperatives in Bataan.

“This will help the cooperative in the efficient handling and storage of harvested rice,” he added.

The P9.9 million facility will help prevent rice quality degradation, thereby reducing losses between harvest and consumption.

“Aside from building rural roads, providing farmers with post-harvest facilities is important to boost their productivity, and will, in one way or the other perk up the city’s economic stability,” Llado emphasized.

The project, funded under the 2022 national budget, was also implemented in support of the city government’s food security program. (CLJD-PIA 3)
