CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a 150-square meter multipurpose building in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.
The P4.9-million project stands in Calagundian, Barangay Aduas Norte.
DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District OIC Engineer Robert Jay Panaligan said the new facility now functions as a multifunctional public service center, improving government services and assistance for the community.
“It is also more spacious than the previous village hall and is conveniently located near the barangay chapel and Calagundian Elementary School,” Panaligan added.
OIC-Assistant District Engineer Leonora Cruz detailed the features of the two-story structure, which include a lounge area, storage room, mediation room, two comfort rooms, pantry, air-conditioning unit, two office rooms, and a ramp for persons with disabilities.
Meanwhile, Barangay Secretary Angeline Villar shared that their previous multipurpose hall had limited space, and rainwater would pool on the floors due to roof leaks, making work difficult during the rainy season.
“Ngayon po, nabigyan kami ng mas maayos na building, at malaking bagay po ito para sa mga residente dahil makapagbibigay kami ng mas mabilis na serbisyo ang barangay namin (Now, we have been given a better building, and this is a big help for the residents because our barangay can provide faster services),” Villar expressed.
With designated spaces for social services, recreational activities, and educational programs, the new facility enables the barangay to address multiple concerns efficiently in one location. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Nueva Ecija)
