TARLAC CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) built a covered court with solar-powered lights at barangay San Roque in Moncada, Tarlac.
The P6.93-million infrastructure can conveniently host sports and other community recreational activities.
DPWH Tarlac 1st District Engineer Neil Farala emphasized that the 544-square meter project, funded under the 2023 national budget and implemented through the agency’s Basic Infrastructure Program, supports the construction of various facilities to enhance the efficient delivery of social services.
“This newly constructed covered court stands as a testament to the department’s commitment to providing facilities for local communities, serving as a hub for meetings, barangay assemblies, various sports, and physical activities, and catering to the diverse needs and interests,” Farala said.
In an interview, Barangay Kagawad Willy Butay highlighted past experiences when holding barangay assemblies and meetings in the community.
Butay also pointed out the positive impact of the newly constructed covered court in their village.
The facility is equipped with solar-powered lights to operate efficiently and sustainably at night when needed.
This is an innovative approach that aligns with the government’s commitment to promoting renewable energy sources and ensuring a greener future for the nation.
The project’s completion signifies the development of the village and exemplifies DPWH’s thrust to enhance the quality of life for its residents. (MJSC/CLJD-PIA 3)
