IBA, Zambales (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) built two school buildings at Balaybay Resettlement Elementary School (BRES) in Castillejos, Zambales.

Completed infrastructures include a two-storey with eight classrooms and a two-storey with six classrooms.

DPWH Zambales 2nd District Engineer Rosbe Dizon said the projects were completed on time despite construction challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It addresses the school’s need for additional learning spaces that can accommodate a growing student population.

“Students and teachers will now have a safer and more spacious study spaces as the new school buildings are ready for use now that face-to-face classes have resumed,” Dizon stated.

Each building is equipped with separate toilets for boys, girls, and those with physical disabilities; storage room; generator set; two water pumps; two sets of water tanks; and one cistern tank.

BRES Principal Editha Sebastian expressed her gratitude for the new school buildings.

“Students will no longer endure the shifting schedule system brought about by the lack of available classrooms,” she said.

The projects have a combined allocation of P65.99 million funded under the 2021 General Appropriations Act as part of the convergence program of DPWH with Department of Education.
