BALANGA CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) started the construction of a 1.2-kilometer road leading to the Philippine Sports Training Center (PSTC) complex in Bagac, Bataan.

When completed, the P55 million infrastructure will provide motorists with an alternative route to the state-of-the-art sports hub.

DPWH Bataan 2nd District Engineer Ulysses Llado disclosed that the project will connect PSTC to Gov JJ Linao Road in Balanga City via World Bank Road.

It involves construction of a two-lane road with 280-mm thick pavement and sidewalks with curb and gutter.

“Road safety features such as a 1.5-meter-wide standard bike lane and sidewalks will also be provided,” Llado added.

As of October 15, the project is 60 percent complete.

PSTC will feature numerous facilities for administrative, sports science, medical, and dormitories for athletes and coaches; with sports amenities for 39 Olympic and non-Olympic sports.

It was created by virtue of Republic Act 11214, which was signed by former President Rodrigo R. Duterte on February 14, 2019. (CLJD-PIA 3)
