CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – It was a heart-warming moment for leading vice mayoralty candidate Jimmy T. Lazatin as he almost came to tears in last Thursday’s miting de avance in Barangay San Felipe here.

In the middle of his speech atop a borrowed stage, which was earlier used by other candidates, heavy rains started pouring down which sent the crowd scurrying for cover.

But a few minutes after the heavy downpour, the crowds returned with their umbrellas. The sight took Lazatin by surprise who became emotional, as well as a number of his staff, seeing people come back to once again listen to his platform.

Commenting on the borrowed stage, Lazatin said, “Sa wakas nagka entablado din ako (Finally I have my own stage).”

But on a more serious note he said: “How can I let these people down when they showed how much they love me and my platform of education and good governance?”

The following day, it was the youth who once again trooped to Villa Del Sol for a seminar sponsored by Lazatin who chairs the Committee on Education in the city council.

Later that day, the basketball court in Barangay Magliman was again teeming with people.

On Saturday, Lazatin went house-to-house in Barangay San Nicolas.

In Barangay Maimpis on Sunday, some 109 boys were circumcised and 87 individuals became beneficiaries in a medical mission sponsored by Mensor Drugstore, the Endona Law Office and Sta. Monica Pawnshop, Inc.

Among those who supported Lazatin were Barangay Captain Romy Dizon and his barangay councilors, Sangguniang Kabataan Chair Mark Anthony Sicat, Bantay Bayan Chief Abring Salazar, barangay health worker Vivian Manarang, Reggie Henson, senior citizens Doris Catacutan and Sensing Galang, barangay police Robert Cortez, former barangay captain Tito Royupa and purok coordinators Celestino Pamintuan and Susing Galang, Dr. Romy Pangan, RGCM TODA Marven Manarang and Tirso Ondoy and PTA presidents Reynaldo Catibo and Elsa Sarmiento, and PTA officers Tony Yanga, Amy Yumul- Mogato, and Faustino Manalang.

SFELAPCO employees were also present during the miting de avance.
