SUBIC BAY FREEPORT ZONE (PIA) — The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region III, in partnership with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), will convene stakeholders for the 3rd Central Luzon Sustainable Tourism Summit.
The three-day gathering, set on September 10 to 12, 2025 at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center, will promote responsible tourism practices that support economic growth while preserving culture and protecting the environment.
Carrying the theme “Building Green Legacies: Sustaining Nature, Celebrating Culture, and Empowering Industry,” the summit will bring together local governments, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), academic institutions, and community partners to advance sustainable tourism in the region.

DOT Regional Director Richard Daenos underscored the significance of the event.
“This initiative stands as a collective commitment to advancing a tourism industry that is globally competitive, as well as deeply rooted in responsibility to our environment, our communities, and our future generations,” he said.
Now on its third year, the summit has grown into Central Luzon’s largest platform for collaboration on eco-driven tourism. It will feature hands-on workshops, expert-led sessions, and an expo showcasing sustainable tourism products and services. Participants may select among three learning tracks—Nature, Culture, and Industry—to gain practical knowledge applicable to their respective fields.
A highlight of this year’s program is the inaugural Sustainable Tourism Appreciation and Recognition (S.T.A.R.) Awards, which will honor individuals and groups that have introduced innovative practices, supported community development, and advanced sustainability in tourism.
SBMA Chairperson and Administrator Eduardo Jose Aliño described the summit as a milestone for the sector.
“This gathering marks another milestone in our shared journey towards a tourism industry that not only drives economic growth but also protects our environment, preserves our culture, and empowers our communities,” he said.
The summit will also showcase new eco-destinations in Central Luzon, including hidden trails and community-managed green attractions that highlight the region’s natural and cultural richness.
The 3rd Central Luzon Sustainable Tourism Summit runs from September 10–12, 2025.
