ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said 200 bedridden Persons with Disabilities will also receive vaccines via house-to-house starting on Aug. 6.
“Tayo na po mismo ang pumupunta sa kanila upang maseguro na matatanggap nila agad ang bakuna ng walang kahirap-hirap lalo na po at sila ay kabilang sa ating priority groups,” Lazatin said.
Prior to their vaccination date, the said bedridden PWDs underwent health assessment via the comfort of their homes thru deployed doctors and health workers from Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center led by Dr. Froilan Canlas and City Health Office headed by Officer-in-Charge Dr. Verona Guevarra.
A mobile bus is being deployed with complete medical equipment needed for the safe transport of the vaccines, as well as of those who will receive the first dose of inoculation. There is also an ambulance with rescue and nurse staff from the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office led by Rudy Simeon and one mobile utility vehicle of support staff from Gender and Development Office led by Mina Cabiles and Office of the Seniors Citizens Affairs headed by Ed Torres.
Persons with Disabilities Affairs Officer-in-Charge Alma Vital said this initiative of Mayor Lazatin will lessen the worries of the families of bedridden PWDs on how they will receive the vaccines.
Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas meanwhile reiterated that the mobile vaccination at the grassroots level will be a preparation for the upcoming city-wide house-to-house vaccination, particularly those physically unfit to go to the vaccination areas in the City College of Angeles and Angeles City National High School as well as those who reside in remote areas.
Apart from bedridden PWDs, 660 elderly confined to their beds have been receiving their door-to-door vaccines.
To date, 174 bedridden elderly in 10 barangays received their inoculation via house-to-house, which started last July 31.

It can be recalled that Mayor Lazatin has been promoting PWD-friendly premises in the City Hall by putting up necessary structures like elevator and ramps.
Mayor Lazatin also instructed the City Engineering Office and the Business Permit and Licensing Division to conduct inspection with the accessibility of establishments for PWDs.
To remind them that they are part of the community and will never be left behind, inset and sign language were included in the city government’s official news broadcasts.
Amid the pandemic, P5 million was allotted to distribute P1,000 cash assistance to 5,000 registered PWDs. They were also given Vitamin C supplements.
