DONITA ROSE on ex-husband Eric Villarama’s apology:
“You know, these are things, whether sincere or not, those words that are spoken are powerful. And they do something, they bring healing to the heart.”
The host/actress has finally moved on from her ex-husband Eric.
They parted ways in 2016, after a twelve year relationship.
Donita had a son with Eric named Joshua Paul “JP” Villarama, now 14.
Was it hard to start all over again?
“Hugot-tanong yun? Yes. Well, I would say that it’s difficult, but it’s also exciting at the same time. My entire life, I’ve been dedicated to serving my family; not just my immediate family, my siblings.
“Siyempre, when I came back to the Philippines, di ba, naghiwalay nga ako, it was really the first time I really focused on myself. Like, having my own place na, you know, going back to working out, and just focusing on my son. So it was hard at first, but I think I’m fully recovered na.”
Did she not oblige Eric to support their son financially?
“No. I just don’t want to hold any grudges. But the dad, just this year, has offered to help a little bit more in tuition fee. Donita confessed that she is now friends with Eric.
“Oh, yeah, we’re friends na. Ang joke lang is, I always say na, ‘Pinatawad ko na yung hayop na iyan!’ Pero joke lang yun. Joke lang yun.”
Donita reminisced the time when her ex-hubby had an illicit aff air. However, she laughs at it.
“Super, super naka-move on. I would say that pinaka-highlight of the reconciliation was Valentine’s Day, this year.”
Donita disclosed her private life in ABS-CBN’s morning show Magandang buhay.
“Natandaan niya kasi noon na Valentine’s Day kami naghiwalay, noong nalaman niya na Valentine’s Day yung topic, alam na niya, alam na niya. Then he said, ‘You know, I just wanna say that I’m sorry.’ It was the fi rst time na nag-apologize siya.
“But prior to that, nagsulat ako ng letter para sa kanya, like, almost a year before. Even though I could blame him for everything, I wrote him a letter of apology and I said to him that, ‘I’m sorry for all of my shortcomings, ganun, ganun.’
“Pero nung binasa niya, hindi ko nagustuhan nung una yung response niya. It was, like, ‘Oo nga, e, parang it took a long time for me to forgive you.’
“So when I read it, sabi ko, ‘Bastos ‘to! Parang ako pa yung nag-sorry ‘tapos ikaw pa yung [galit].’
“But I let it go. Well, ‘God, I let it in your timing. I wrote this letter to release myself of bitterness and forgiveness,’ sabi ko, ‘Nakamove on na rin ako from that but it took almost a year before he said sorry.’ When he said sorry, siyempre medyo nakaraos na rin.
“And then he said, ‘Even though I have moved on in my life, there is not a day that goes by that I don’t regret hurting you.’
“So, naiyak naman ako nang kaunti. Nabola naman ako. You know, these are things, whether sincere or not, those words that are spoken are powerful. And they do something, they bring healing to the heart.” she narrates.
