TARLAC CITY (PIA) — Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Tarlac is set to conduct an education seminar and pay-out activities on May 1.
The activities are in line with the celebration of 121st Labor Day with the theme, “Pabahay, Bilihing Abot-Presyo, Benepisyo ng Matatag na Trabaho Para sa Manggagawang Pilipino”.
DOLE Tarlac Field Office Chief Aurita Laxamana explained that the agency, in partnership with SM City Tarlac and city government of Tarlac, will hold a free labor education seminar for private establishments.
“We are inviting interested individuals, who want to know more about our labor laws, to register online. Due to limited slots, we can only accommodate the first 200 registered participants,” she said.
Laxamana explained that establishments may register one management representative and one labor representative from their organization through bit.ly/LaborEducationSMTarlac2023.
Aside from the seminar, Laxamana mentioned the releasing of salaries for workers under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.
She bared that about 647 beneficiaries from Capas, 300 individuals in San Manuel, and 199 workers from La Paz will each receive P4,600 for rendering 10 days of community service.
DOLE Tarlac will continue the TUPAD pay-outs from May 2 to 5 to a total of 1,985 workers from Concepcion, Gerona, Camiling, Bamban, Paniqui, Victoria, and San Jose.
“Since Labor Day is not just a one-day celebration, we have week-long activities lined up including the Job Fair and Caravan Services on May 2 led by the provincial government of Tarlac,” she stressed.
Relative to this, Laxamana reminded jobseekers to wear appropriate clothes, and to bring their resumes, curriculum vitae and other important documents for the job interview.
She also advised job hunters to upscale and hone their skills through different training to ensure that they are the right person for the job.
“Just put their [jobseekers] best foot forward. If they might not get hired immediately, continue to develop themselves so they could become more employable later in the future. This would make them more ready in case that an opportunity comes their way,” she said.
