TARLAC CITY (PIA) — Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Tarlac Private Hospitals Industry Tripartite Council (TPH-ITC) passed a resolution addressing the shortage of nurses.
It is the council’s first resolution for the year seeking to declare shortage of nurses in the country as a Public Health Threat and device strategies to mitigate its effects in the interim.
DOLE Tarlac Head Jose Roberto Navata said the shortage of nurses and other allied health professionals has been identified as one of the primary issues of the healthcare industry.
“We want to mitigate the adverse effects of shortage in our dear nurses, so the Department through its coordination and collaboration with the Tarlac Private Hospitals Industry Tripartite Council passed this resolution,” he stated.
Meanwhile, TPH-ITC Vice Chairperson for Management Jacob Tadeo expressed his full support in the undertaking.
“Healthcare workers are the most essential people who provide basic and necessary healthcare services. Without them, a hospital is merely a building,” he said.
Moreover, Tadeo appealed to his fellow council members and the government to help healthcare workers attain a quality life, which in effect may motivate and inspire them to continue working in their chosen profession.
Management and workers’ representatives from 17 private hospitals in the province manifested their support during the adoption and signing of the resolution. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
