TARLAC CITY (PIA) — Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Tarlac bared that they awarded P2.8 million worth of livelihood assistance to three beneficiaries in the province.

The grant assistance, funded under DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), aims to help accredited co-partners procure raw materials and equipment to improve start-ups, small businesses, and cooperatives.

DILP Focal Person Desire Julian-Gonzales said that the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Gerona, one of the beneficiaries, received a check amounting to P300,000 for a nego-cart project in their municipality.

“We also turned-over a P2-million check to LGU Capas for the assistance of five groups in the town. Meanwhile, our lone cooperative accredited co-partner received P500,000 for their enhancement production and supply of fresh fruits and vegetables,” she added.

Gonzales stressed that as of March, a total of 188 marginalized workers in the province were approved for livelihood assistance.

Eligible DILP beneficiaries include self-employed people with insufficient income such as landless farmers, fisher folks, low or minimum wage earners, seasonal or displaced workers.

Senior citizens, indigenous peoples, parents or guardians of child laborers, rebel returnees, and victims of armed conflict are also eligible to the program.

Gonzales added that groups or cooperatives may apply if they are accredited co-partners of the agency.

“Interested applicants may visit the Public Employment Service Office in their respective LGUs. We will also aid them in sending their proposed projects for common facilities to the regional office for further evaluation of the Regional Project Management Team,” she noted.

Under the DILP program, DOLE shoulders 80% of the total project cost while the remaining 20% will come from the LGU. (MJSC/TJBM-PIA 3)
