The dog in return saved her from a viper the other day but it meant the loss of its life.
Jago was among the 58 dogs and 18 cats that Jonah Lynne Enriquez, 37, rescued and takes care of in a shelter she constructed beside their residence in the middle of ricefi elds in Barangay Sta. Lucia.
Most of the dogs like Jago are “Aspin” or “asong Pinoy” while a few are Shit-zus and Huskies.
She has opened their house as sanctuary for dogs and cats for more than four years.
Ibinuwis niya buhay niya,” Enriquez said trying to control her tears.
She said that she was sweeping the floor near the fence of the “hut” of Jago when she saw a snake.
When the snake was already lifeless, Jago went up to its hut, lay down and was dead in less than five minutes, she said.
The dog got many snake bites on the lips, legs and neck.
Siguro naisip niya na baka ako pa makagat dahil talagang ag- gressive ang ahas,” she said.
