GUAGUA, Pampanga – Gov. Lilia “Baby” Pineda on Saturday led the inauguration of the dialysis center at the provincial hospital here, as it will benefit indigents in the western portion of the province.

Second District Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo joined Pineda in the launching of the 7-unit dialysis center at the Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Hospital (DMMH).

DMMH chief Dr. Eddie Ponio disclosed that their unit will allow people to save at least P500, as they will charge P1,700 for every session. The government-run hospital charges some P2,200 per dialysis session.

Ponio said those who have PhilHealth cards will “practically be free of charge from the dialysis service.”

Engr. Wilfredo Manalili of the provincial engineering office (PEO) said the dialysis center at the DMMH is the first among the nine district hospitals and one provincial hospital in Pampanga.

He added that Pineda is set to provide a dialysis unit for every government-run hospital in the province.

Committed to provide quality health care in the province, Pineda said “health is wealth and must be protected and nurtured.”

3rd District Board Members Trina Dizon and Monz Laus joined the blessing and inauguration of the dialysis center at the DMMH.

Laus, chairman of the committee on health, said she had supported the plans and projects of the governor to push for quality health care in the province.
