ARAYAT, Pampanga — Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon has sacked three officials of the Pampanga DPWH 2nd District Engineering Officet after receiving a report that they were allegedly extorting and demanding up to 8% from government projects.
Dizon named the sacked officials as: Ranilo Magtoto, chief of maintenance; Arnold Domingo, construction section; and Jefferson Guinto, construction section.
He said the three have been relieved of their posts effective Jan. 30, and there will be a full-blown investigation regarding the report that they were demanding a percentage from projects.
According to Dizon, the person who gave him the report regarding the demand of the three officials was reliable.
He warned all DPWH officials nationwide that if he receives a report that they are demanding a percentage, they will be immediately sacked and investigated. And if the investigation reveals that they are indeed demanding, cases will be filed like the previous DPWH engineers who are now facing charges.
Dizon said that the Marcos administration is serious in fighting corruption in the agency.
Meanwhile, Punto is still trying to get the side of the three Pampanga DPWH officials who were dismissed from their posts.
