Distribution of SAP continues, 4,631 families served in Bataan

ITY — The Department of Social Welfare and Development on Monday continued the distribution of financial assistance under its Social Amelioration Program (SAP) in various areas in Bataan.

Mar Jay de las Alas, provincial officer of the Philippine Information Agency, said that social workers have so far handed out financial assistance worth P6,500 each to 4,631 families in five towns as of Sunday.

Recipients were 1,135 families in Pilar; 1,744 in Hermosa; 132 in Limay; 293 in Mariveles and 1,327 in Orani with total cash assistance worth more than P30 million.

De las Alas said that Orani was the first town in Bataan that posted the official list of SAP beneficiaries for transparency.

Target beneficiaries of the Emergency Subsidy Program which is part of SAP  are 70,359 families in 11 towns and a city in the province.

De las Alas said that in Central Luzon, 487,115 families have so far availed themselves of the financial assistance as of Sunday.

He listed these as 17,730 families from Aurora; Bataan – 4,631; Bulacan – 183,724; Nueva Ecija – 142,043; Pampanga – 78,323; Tarlac – 49,062 and Zambales – 11,602.
