BALER, Aurora (PIA) — The municipality of Dinalungan in Aurora recorded zero casualties following the onslaught of Super Typhoon Uwan, which made landfall in the area and brought strong winds and heavy rains that battered several parts of the province.
Recovery and relief operations are now in full swing, with personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and uniformed services conducting clearing operations to reopen roads blocked by fallen trees and debris, ensuring access for relief delivery and response teams.
Mayor Joel Vargas said the local government continues to coordinate with national government agencies for the restoration of essential services and to support affected families.

“Hindi natin pababayaan ang ating mga kababayan. Patuloy ang ating pagtutok sa bawat barangay para matiyak na may makakain, may malinis na tubig, at may matutuluyan ang lahat. Sama-sama tayong babangon, Dinalungan,” he assured.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported that 2,522 families or 7,325 individuals were affected by the super typhoon in Dinalungan with 1,621 individuals still staying in evacuation centers.
To address immediate needs, the Department of Social Welfare and Development has distributed about 1,000 family food packs to displaced residents, with an additional 3,000 packs expected to arrive.
Each pack contains canned goods, coffee, cereal drinks, and rice for household consumption.
Meanwhile, restoration efforts for primary utilities are also underway.
One of the main sources of the Dinalungan water system is being repaired to restore the town’s supply.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, on the other hand, has restored transmission lines in several areas, although power remains unstable in the northern part of the province, including Dinalungan.
Moreover, the Department of Public Works and Highways has deployed heavy equipment to expedite the clearing of major thoroughfares, ensuring faster delivery of aid and improved mobility for emergency responders.
Damage assessment and relief operations continue across various barangays, while response teams remain on standby for the next phases of rehabilitation and recovery.
