IBA, Zambales (PIA) — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) inaugurated a total of four completed FY 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) projects in Zambales.

These include solar-powered streetlights in Botolan, a new garbage truck in Candelaria, a municipal landmark in Castillejos, and a child-friendly park in Iba.

DILG Regional Director Araceli San Jose said the projects were intended to provide practical benefits to residents.

“…but the purpose behind it is very clear it is to bring better and more efficient service closer to our people…Simple lamang po ang konsepto pero malaki ang epekto nito sa araw-araw na pamumuhay ng ating mga kababayan at ng ating komunidad (…but the purpose behind it is very clear it is to bring better and more efficient service closer to our people…The concept is simple, but it has a big impact on the daily lives of our fellow citizens and our communities),” the official pressed.

About P1,153,000 was allocated for each project under the FY 2024 SGLGIF.

Moreover, Candelaria acquired a new garbage truck to improve waste collection efficiency and support cleaner surroundings in the municipality.

Castillejos, on the other hand, constructed a municipal landmark to promote local identity and tourism.

The structure also serves as a public gathering space for residents and visitors.

And lastly, Iba opened a child-friendly park with new playground facilities to provide a safe and inclusive space for recreation and family activities.

DILG said the projects passed quality and accountability standards and are now open for public use.

The agency and partner LGUs committed to maintaining the facilities to ensure continued community benefits. (CLJD/RGP, PIA Region 3-Zambales)
