CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Take a bow, General Lacadin, Sir.

No less than Interior and Local Government Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento has hailed the Central Luzon police strategy in the campaign against criminality as a template for all other police offices to follow.

“I’m encouraging other regional police offices across the country to adopt the innovation and strategy of Central Luzon police in its campaign against criminality,” said Sarmiento at a recent New Years’ call by different regional police offices heads.

The Secretary referred to the “out-of-thebox” innovation impacted by Central Luzon police director Chief Supt. Rudy Lacadin in getting lawless elements off the streets, and always onthe- run.

Sarmiento was reportedly particularly impressed with the “dramatic decrease” in the crime rate in the region during the holiday season. Police recorded a plunge of 52 percent in the number of crimes for the Yule period as compared to that of last year.

For his part, Lacadin said: “I don’t believe that the crime rate shoots up during the holiday season.

It’s all a matter of how the police deal with the situation.” He did not elaborate though. Of the lowered crime statistics in the region, Lacadin gave credit to “the hardworking members of PRO-3,” even as he exhorted his men “toward greater vigilance and sustained efforts in the war against criminality and all forms of lawlessness.”

Lacadin was designated as director of PRO3 in the last quarter of 2015. Since he assumed the position, scores of criminals have been “neutralized” in chance encounters and offensive operations launched by different police stations in the region.

The New Years’ call is an annual activity of the DILG including the PNP, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and the Bureau of Fire Protection where their top officers pay courtesy to the secretary.
