The Electronic Local Government Unit (eLGU) System was launched in the province of Bataan on July 9, 2024 at Batan People’s Center, City of Balanga, Bataan. This system is a flagship program of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), led by DICT Secretary Ivan Uy and eGovernment Undersecretary David Almirol. The launch event in Bataan saw close to 300 attendees.

The said launching was followed by the eLGU CIO Conference on July 10, 2024 in Pan Resort, City of Balanga, Bataan which was attended by Chief Information Officers and representatives from LGUs in Bataan.

Central Luzon’s digital transformation is gaining momentum with the eGOV App Launching and eLGU KickOff Event in Bataan, followed by events in Bulacan on August 15, 2024, Tarlac on August 28, 2024 and in Zambales on September 3, 2024. These launches will be succeeded by the eLGU CIO Conference and eGov Promotional Activities, spanning three consecutive days at accessible venues across Central Luzon.

The eGov PH, also known as e-Government Philippines, is a mobile application designed to simplify transactions between the government and citizens. Aiming to build a connected nation, this platform integrates various government sectors into a one-stop online system, reducing economic costs for citizens.

Through the eGOV App, the eLGU system allows people across the Philippines to access public services from their City or Municipality anytime, anywhere. Users can renew business permits, obtain work permits, process certificates, and more, all from their mobile devices.

The eLGU launch in Bataan was attended by representatives from the Governor’s Office, Mayors and Vice Mayors of the Cities and Municipalities of Bataan, Regional Directors of DILG and ARTA, and DICT officials, OIC Regional Director of DICT R5 Rachel Ann P. Grabador, and Dir. Josh Querol, Director II, Project Director of the National Government Portal Project.

This strong support from both the DICT Central Office and the Bataan Provincial Leadership underscores the program’s importance for the Philippines. It aligns with President Marcos’s mandate to upgrade government systems and ensure local-level implementation. This initiative is part of the President’s Bagong Pilipinas Movement, aimed at bringing the country on par with its Asian neighbors in public service digitalization.

The eGOV App Launching and eLGU KickOff Event in Bataan will further the vision for national digital transformation. This series of events is made possible through the partnership of DICT, DILG, and ARTA.
