CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is intensifying the provision of programs geared towards digital transformation in the government and communities of Central Luzon.
It launched the eGov PH Super App in line with the celebration of National ICT Month this June.
DICT Regional Director Antonio Edward Padre said the app is part of the agency’s digital transformation project that aims to build an all-in-one app across all government agencies.
“The focus of this is that all frontline services of the government, may it be national or local, may be accessed in the Super App. This is a whole-of-government approach. The branches of the government will populate their frontline services in the app to be accessed by the citizens,” he explained.
The app will serve as a one-stop-shop access to the public’s accounts and transact with national government agencies, local government units, and various sectors including tourism, employment, and health.
One of its key features is access to the user’s valid personal identification cards in digital format which could be used in government or non-government transactions.
In addition, Padre stated that they are conducting community-based programs to address the lack of exposure of citizens in digital technology.
“We have teams that go to challenging areas carrying our devices in order for them [people] to experience what digital literacy is all about,” he added.
He added that they provide digital devices or equipment in strategic areas in various localities which people can use to access government services.
Meanwhile, Padre reported that they have already established 210 free WiFi access points across Central Luzon under its Free Public Internet Access program.
The agency pledged that all public places in the region will be given free WiFi, especially those in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas. (CLJD/JLDC-PIA 3 with Mica Zabala and Marlou Manalo, Interns)
