CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – It’s balik-Central Luzon for lawyer Ric Diaz as he reassumed the regional directorship of the National Bureau of Investigation here Tuesday, following an action- packed stint in Central Visayas.
Diaz swapped places with Atty. Jose Justo Yap who served four years in Region 3, rising from assistant regional director in 2012 to regional director in 2013-2015, now appointed director of NBI-Region 7 stationed in Cebu City.
Diaz served as NBI-CL director from 2011 to 2013 before his transfer to Region 10 in Cagayan de Oro and eventually to Cebu City.
“This is actually a homecoming for me although I did not expect it,” Diaz said, explaining that his reassignment is the decision of “higher superiors” in relation to the coming elections.
Diaz bagged the best NBI regional office award during his stint in Cebu CIty.
For his part, Yap expressed confidence that with Diaz at the helm, NBICL “is in good hands.”
He also praised Diaz for undertaking major improvements with the NBI Cebu regional office, making it a “conducive working place.”
During his administration, Yap busted the biggest online telephone fraud operations based in Angeles City which led to the arrest of more than 170 Taiwanese and Chinese nationals in raid at the suspects’ rented residences.
The case is still pending in court.
