DHVTSU-ST: Webinar on computer fundamentals held

The Don Honorio Ventura State University Sto.Tomas Campus (DHVSU) Extension Unit with the College of Computing Studies (CCS) DHVSU Main Campus collaborated in holding of webinar series in giving technical expertise on various Information Technology (IT) topics to extension partner schools

The first leg of the webinar series was held at the San Matias Elementary School (SMES), San Matias, Sto. Tomas, Pampanga on November 23 and November 25, 2021 which focused on the theme Computer Fundamentals and Digital Media Literacies.

It was participated in by the 55 elementary teachers of the said school led by its Principal, Ms. Gemma T. Balingit.

On the 1st day, the 1st session focused on the lecture on the current trends and technical familiarization on the computer system on hardware and software, computer cases and power supplies , mother board, central processing , cooling system, adapter, output devices and the likes which was discussed by Mr. Earl Lawrence Pelayo, MIT, while, Mr. Philip I. Doctor, MIT, shared his technical expertise to the participants on PC Troubleshooting which part of the 2nd session. Then, teachers actively shared their various concerns and queries on the said topics which was answered by the speakers.

On the 2nd day, Mr. Jaymark Yambao, MIT, led the participants on the 1st session on the image manipulation or creating a certificate layout using Adobe Photoshop, followed by 2nd session on tutorial on open video using open source video editor discussed by Mr. Charlie Padilla, MIT.

As output, the teachers are expected to enhance their skills on layout design in their image manipulation for the layout and design in their certificates making and about video editing skills for their virtual graduation presentation.

While, the second and final leg of the webinar series was held at the San Nicolas Integrated School (SNIS), San Nicolas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga on December 03, 2021 focused on Adaption of Online Educational Platform and Tools.

Ms. Maricris R. Manaloto shared her inputs on the topic on Increasing student engagement in online distance learning using online learning platform with the aid of the INKNOE classpoint, as well as, creating online quizzes, while, Ms. Maria Ivy Mercado-Guese, MIT, lectured and gave hands on demonstration on Online tools used in creating presentation, as well as, video conferencing tools.

The said webinar participated in by the 47 teachers led by its Principal, Ms. Maritess D. Bayani, ambly assisted by Ms. Maria Rita O. Catingco, Head Teacher III/LAC Coordinator.

Both webinar series were conducted through Google meet and coordinated with the Extension Management Services Office led by its Director Engr. Rhoderick M. Favorito; Professor Joel D. Canlas, Dean, CCS and Ms. Jovita G. Rivera, Ph.D, DSTC Campus Director.
