Punto went to the center early Monday but was angrily prevented by some of the Chinese detainees from taking photos of their compatriots still asleep on the carpet of the lobby. This reporter was compelled to erase photos taken of them sleeping on the convention lobby, but the photos were recovered later through an app.
A staff of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said that the Chinese detainees almost ganged up recently on one of the immigration personnel who tried to take photos within their holding area.
Fontana workers meanwhile have complained of “nauseating stink” in the holding area. “Walang paligo ang mga naka-detain doon kaya nakakasulasok na ang amoy,” said a worker who claimed he delivered food at the convention center.
A BI employee who asked not to be named for lack of authority to give information, said that a certain Col. Edward Chan of the BI intelligence office was in charge of securing the holding area. Chan, however, could not be contacted.
Fontana officials refused interviews and security guards at the resort’s main gate said a certain Col. Gaddi instructed them not to allow media into the premises.
