Let’s refresh ourselves with recent revelations from the Blessed Virgin Mary in Garabadal in the 1960’s and in Medjugorje since the 1980’s: mankind is facing three events- the warning, the miracle and the chastisement.
The realization of the events, of course, depends on our response to Heaven’s call for conversion (there’s not much progress here as far as I see).
As to the question as to when the warning will happen, this column had pointed out the astonishing prophecy of St. Malachy (13th century) on the last 112 popes, one which indicates that the present Pope Benedict XVI is the last if not the second to the last pope, with the last he described as Petrus Romanus or Peter of Rome.
Most experts regard the word “last” within the context of a phase in the history of the Church, not in the context of the end of the world.
Well, the prophecy seems to hint us on the time element. This is boosted by the statements from the recent visionaries in Garabandal and Medjugorje who had said they believed the events would unfold in our times.
We have already quoted one of the Garabandal visionaries about the warning. But surprises, other recent purported visionaries seem to echo her. Here are quotes.
St. Faustina Kolwalska quoting Jesus Christ: “Before I come as the Just Judge, I am coming first as the King of Mercy. Before the day of justice arrives, there will be given to people a sign in the heavens of this sort:
All light in the heavens will be extinguished, and there will be great darkness over the whole earth. Then the sign of the cross will be seen in the sky, and from the openings where the hands and the feet of the Saviour were nailed will come forth great lights which will light up the earth for a period of time….”
On May 3, 1974, Jesus told Madeleine Dozule of France: “The Glorious Cross, of the Sign of the Son of Man, is the announcement of the imminent return in glory of Jesus, risen from the dead”, then on July 4, 1975, He also said” “but fear nothing, for here will rise in the sky the sign of the Son of Man (which Madeleine saw shining from east to west). I tell you, it is by this cross set over the world that nations will be saved.”
In 1990, the Blessed Mother was said to have told Italian Paola Albertini (credited for healing Mother Angelica of the cable television EWTN) during a trip to the US as follows: “There will appear a great cross in the sky.
All will see it. Some will be converted. Some will be so frightened that they will die. And others will be indifferent to it. There will be a test, then there will come this sign.”
To Sadie Jaramillo, who once corrected me in an email to say she was woman and not a man as I initially thought, received this message, also purportedly from Jesus:
“Soon you will behold the greatest prodigy in the heavens. You will behold this with your eyes and feel it in your soul. You will see Me on the cross in the heavens and the weight of your sins will be revealed in your soul.
By means of your consecration to My Most Sacred Heart, I have truly placed you there in My Heart. You will behold this great manifestation of My Mercy from within My Heart and the flames of My purifying love will raise and will consume that is left, that keeps you from totally loving Me.”
