ABUCAY, Bataan: The Division of Schools in Bataan under the Department of Education here has moved the June 29 opening of classes in public schools in the province from kinder to junior high schools due to damages left by typhoon Carina.
She said that the Schools Division of Bataan has 212 public schools with total enrollment of 126,895 from kinder to junior high school as of July 29, 2024.
The percentage of enrollment compared to last year’s more than 161,800 is 78.39. Violeta is optimistic that with the enrollment still going on, the difference can still be achieved
“Maraming report na damaged classrooms kung kaya nagdecide na ipagpaliban ang opening of classes,” the schools superintendent emphasized.
Violeta said there are still shortage of classrooms in Bataan so adjustment in schedule of classes has to be done. “Pero marami na ring natapos na school building na nai-turnover na from DPWH at from Special Education Fund.”
Brigada Eskwela was in full swing at the flood-affected elementary school in Barangay Almacen in Hermosa, Bataan that teachers said was hit by neck-deep flood brought by Carina.
School teachers and parents scrubbed the floors of classrooms, cleaned chairs and desks, washed classroom curtains.
Grade 4 school teacher Diyosa Nicdao was attending to text books in her classroom soaked in flood water.
Kung may mapapatuyo, papatuyuin,” she said. (30)
