CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) awarded residential land titles to 12 qualified residents of Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija under its Handog Titulo program.

The patents, covering a total of 600 square meters, were distributed through the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in the Science City of Muñoz, in partnership with the local government unit.

DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo said granting residential patents not only strengthens the agency’s land administration program but also plays a vital role in empowering communities, ensuring tenure security, and promoting the sustainable development of natural resources.

“The Handog Titulo program encourages communities to take part in responsible land stewardship. Through this, we can reduce illegal encroachment and foster sustainable and inclusive development,” he added.

Present during the distribution were CENRO Muñoz head Merlito Villar, Zaragoza Vice Mayor Edwin Buendia, and Municipal Assessor Warlie Gregorio, who personally handed the patents to the beneficiaries.

The Handog Titulo program is a continuing initiative of the DENR that aims to fast-track the processing and issuance of land titles to qualified beneficiaries, as part of its efforts to promote social justice, alleviate poverty, and support economic development.
