CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda on Wednesday said he would appeal to the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Department of Health to put Pampanga under modified enhanced community quarantine if only for a week starting May 16.
Pampanga, along with the rest of Central Luzon, was placed under GCQ starting May 16 in the IATF Resolution 35 issued last Tuesday.
Pineda said the decision to appeal for a MECQ was the consensus of 22 mayors in a meeting Wednesday at the Capitol here.
“The MECQ will give us enough time to prepare workers in the manufacturing, construction, and other economic sectors mentioned in IATF Resolution No. 35,” said Pineda.
The governor cited the need for a transition period for the constituents to prepare for GCQ especially in terms of mobility, especially as regards public transportation: “Kailangan po na ihanda na kung ano ang mga ruta ng mga pampublikong sasakyan na iaayon na rin sa mga protocols ng [Department of Transportation].”
“Gayundin ang mga workers who belong to industriesand establishments allowed under the GCQ,” he said. “Kailangan mula bukas, mag-umpisa na silang mag–secure ng passes mula sa mga municipalities.”
He said all municipalities will be open for this purpose, even as he reminded the workers to bring all necessary documents in securing passes, such as company IDs, barangay clearance, and certificate of employment.
“Nakikiusap po ako sa mga employers na agarang bigyan ang kanilang mga workers nito” he added.
To his constituents, Pineda appealed: “Sana wag po kayong magalit, ito po ay para hindi tayo mabigla sa paglabas ng tao pagdating ng GCQ.”
He noted that this period will also be in time for the release of the Covid-19 survey undertaken in the province to give a better assessment of the situation on the ground.
“Pag nakita naman nating maayos ang resulta, mag-aapeal po tayo na tuloy na tayo sa GCQ,” he said.
This, even as he reminded everyone that even under GCQ there are still protocols to follow especially regarding the stay-at-home orders for senior citizens and very young adults except for securing most essentials needs.
