Thus, Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda expressed the gratitude of his constituents to their cabalen from Apalit for his approval of a third viaduct at the North Luzon Expressway to span the Candaba Swamp.
Pineda cited NLEX Corp. as saying that the Tollway Regulatory Board has approved the construction of the third viaduct to begin this January 2023.
The project will reportedly cost NLEX Corp. some P8 billion.
The provincial government, together with the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., recommended a third viaduct because the two current ones are almost 50 years old. These are currently undergoing massive rehabilitation and retrofitting so they would become “like new roadways,” according to NLEX Corp.
Pineda has also reiterated his call to truckers and haulers to “protect the Candaba Viaduct,” enjoining them to comply with weight limits imposed on heavy vehicles traversing the NLEX. Punto News Team/Pampanga PIO
