CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A native of Davao del Norte was shot dead in Barangay Tagumbao in Moncada, Tarlac over the weekend after he allegedly shot it out with cops arresting him for selling shabu.

In a report, Moncada police chief Supt. Franklin Estoro identifi ed the suspect as Rodelio Sabalo, 34, a native of Barangay Magatos, Asuncion town, Davao Del Norte who moved to Barangay Camangaan East in Moncada earlier this year.

The report said police have been monitoring Sabalo amid reports he had been a supplier of shabu in Moncada. He reportedly sold two sachets of shabu to police poseur-buyer PO2 Archie Niegos and resisted when the cops moved in to arrest him.

Recovered from Sabalo were a .9mm pistol, 16 sachets of shabu, a Honda TMX 155 motorcycle, among items used for the use of illegal drugs, said the report.

“From the looks of it (Sabalo’s killing), he is prepared to fight the police. He immediately drew his gun when he was about to be arrested and fi red at my men,” said Estoro.

He said that while known drug pushers in Moncada have already been arrested, there are new suppliers reported to have replaced those already in jail.
