TARLAC CITY (PIA) – Dapdap High School (DHS) in Bamban, Tarlac underscored the value of reading skill to its learners to raise their interest and appreciation to reading.

In line with its Reading Month Celebration, DHS conducted a series of reading sessions for frustrated readers, disinterested readers, or learners with disabilities.

DHS Head Teacher III Lorna Castro explained that the reading activities, along with their invited reading ambassadors, will help in stirring the students’ interest and love for reading.

“Reading is very important. Among all the skills that you are supposed to enhance, make sure that you improve your reading skill. Once you have this skill, everything will follow. Please do not end one day without reading a book or anything,” Castro said to the learners.

Among the invited guests to serve as reading ambassadors was Philippine Information Agency Tarlac Information Center Manager Trixie Joy Manalili.

Manalili stressed reading a good investment to one’s self as it creates an opportunity to see things in a different light.

“Reading has a lot of benefits especially to you as students. It improves your vocabulary and sentence construction, widens your imagination, and produces new learning. Consider reading as a fun way to discover and learn new things. Find that book that will make you fall in love with reading,” she said.

She also cited books from different genres to motivate them in becoming book lovers.

The celebration carries the theme “Learning Recovery Through a Culture of Reading: Our Priority, Our Responsibility.” (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
