BALER, Aurora (PIA) — The Department of Agriculture (DA) expressed its support in the conduct of the 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF).
Philippine Statistics Authority is holding the 2022 CAF nationwide from September 4 to October 25.
DA Regional Field Office III Field Operations Division Chief Elma Mananes emphasized that the results of the census will give the overall scenario of the agri-sector in the country.
“We will rely on this 2022 CAF as a basis for policymaking and planning in the agriculture and fisheries sectors, as well as the budget proposal in succeeding years,” she added.
The outcome of the census will serve as a framework for the appropriate interventions that farmers need to enhance the production of various goods to satisfy community needs and guarantee food security and sufficiency.
With this, she encouraged the local agriculture offices and other partner stakeholders in the provinces of Central Luzon to help and support this nationwide statistical undertaking to come up with realistic data.
2022 CAF is the first census in the Philippines to utilize tablets in recording responses of the target population among households and barangays.
Target respondents for households include operators of crops, livestock, poultry, insects/worms culturing, aquaculture, or fishing activity while respondents for barangays cover incumbent village officials.
2022 CAF is the seventh in a series of decennial agricultural censuses, and sixth in the decennial census of fisheries in the country since 1903.
It is conducted every 10 years by Executive Order No. 352, series of 1996 to collect data on the sectors of agriculture and fishery. (CLJD/MAT-PIA 3)
