SCIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ – Nueva Ecija farmers received 116 agricultural machineries and equipment from the Department of Agriculture as part of the Mechanization Program under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund on Wednesday.
Distributed among 139 farmers’ cooperatives and associations in the province were 79 four-wheel–drive tractors, 30 rice combine harvesters, three walk-behind mechanical rice transplanters, and four riding-type mechanical transplanters.
Nueva Ecija 3rd District Rep. Ria Vergara said the provision of equipment is a big leap towards the goal of empowering farmers under the Rice Tariffication Law. Vergara noted that providing full assistance to farmers was the purpose behind the allocation of at least P10-billion annual fund to farmers under RCEF.
The presentation of the machines and equipment was attended by PhilMech director Baldwin Jallorina, DA regional director Crispulo Bautista and Nueva Ecija representatives Estrellita Suansing of the 1st District, Micaela Violago of the 2nd District, and Maricel Nagaño of the 4th District.
It was the second batch of equipment distribution under RCEF in the province, according to the DA.
