CITY OF SAN FERNANDOThis capital city will host on Oct. 20 the annual founding celebration of the Tau Omega Mu Fraternity and its ladies circle at the Otel Pampanga, Skye Plaza Building along Lazatin Blvd. in Barangay San Agustin.

“Expected to grace this momentous event are alumni from here and abroad, resident members of universities and colleges and the honorees and awardees for the year,” a statement from the fraternity said yesterday.

The annual anniversary ball is an occasion where the fraternity gives due recognition to its alumni and members who have distinguished themselves in the service of the community, community leadership, excellence and nation building.

“In 1972, in the historic grounds of the University of the Philippines Manila, at the height of the First Quarter Storm, a group of idealist students, who wanted to lead a movement among the youth and students, geared towards brotherhood, academic excellence, service, equal opportunities and discipline, the Tau Omega Mu Fraternity and its Ladies’ Circle was founded,” the fraternity recalled.

It noted that “46 years after its founding, the fraternity has grown to become one of the most progressive fraternities not only in the University of the Philippines System but across the country, gaining a foothold in several universities and colleges in almost all regions and major cities in the country.”

“Among its ranks came distinguished alumnus that are both elected and appointed public officials, professionals and high ranking business executives, successful businessmen and entrepreneurs, renowned doctors, prominent lawyers, civic leaders and community organizers, broadcasters, writers and journalists, military and police officials, engineers, multi awarded artists, poets, trail blazing scientists, inventors and members of the UP the academe among others,” the statement noted.

The fraternity also said that “in universities and colleges where there are active chapters and resident members, Omegans have distinguished themselves as progressive student leaders know to work hard towards harnessing the youth in nation building for a better future for the next generation.”

For 2018, awardees include an agriculture regional director, business sector leader, an RTC judge and law professor, CCP artistic director, a basketball and boxing sports leader cum local political leader and leading drafters and framers of the proposed constitution (Federalism Con- Com), the fraternity said without giving out names.

“It is also the event where the fraternity honors its resident members who have graduated from universities where they are based specially those who have garnered honors. In this year’s licensure board exams, we will also recognize our board passers and topnotchers. This is testament to the fraternity’s tradition & continuing quest for academic excellence,” it said.

It also said “the TOM North Luzon Heritage Award will also be given to a deserving Omegan that traces his roots from Guagua, Pampanga (Capati clan) and has been a beacon of service not only to the fraternity and its members but also to the community that is worth emulating. On his own alone, he has given scholarship for poor but deserving members of the fraternity to pursue their dreams to become doctors, engineers and the like.”

The fraternity urged interested parties to contact the organizers Brods Gab Dizon, Reginald Hernandez, Harry Docena, Ronald Dabu and Herrie Raymond Rivera together with Sisses Camille Binuya Hernandez and Hannah Domingo thru the fraternity’s Facebook pages TOM Inc North Luzon or Tau Omega Mu or log in to the invite TOM@46 to confirm attendance.

Next to host the annual assembly in 2019 will be the Bicol Region.
