A total of P1.4 Million fund was given yesterday to the City Government of San Fernando from the Department of Social Welfare and Development to support its programs related to climate change adaptation and mitigation.

The check was received by City Social Welfare and Development Officer Aileen Villanueva and City Treasurer Mary Ann Bautista.

Villanueva said the funds will be used to sustain the cash-for-work: 4th wave vegetable gardening projects in all 35 barangays of the city.

Some 500 selected beneficiaries, who will work for ten days, will each receive P285 daily allowance.

In an interview, Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago said this program aims to build resilient communities as well as protect the natural environment.
