The City Public Order and Safety Coordinating Office (CPOSCO) of the Local Government Unit of San Fernando is carrying out a number of measures to elevate the peace and order status in the community.
A total of 83 traffic enforcers are deployed everyday, in shifting schedules, to direct traffic and assist not only the motorists but also the commuters.
With the strict implementation of the city’s traffic management code, the traffic enforcers also conduct regular apprehension of erring motorists particularly those who disregard traffic signs and violate the “no helmet, no travel” policy, anti-smoke belching law and other pertinent statutes.
Simultaneous operations against vehicles that are illegally parked, overloaded, and colorum are also executed.
Meanwhile, a separate workforce is mandated to maintain the public order in the city. Currently, there are 31 Public Order Enforcers who take charge of the clearing operations against illegal structures and illegal vendors, among others.
Just this week, the two teams have successfully conducted separate operations in Barangays Dolores, Sto. Rosario, Lourdes and San Juan; and, along Mac-Arthur Highway and Jose Abad Santos Avenue Road.
“I am happy with the positive results of their initiatives to maintain the orderliness in our city and the safety of Fernandinos. Aside from these, the city government is also doubling its efforts to improve the transportation system in the city with the implementation of a mass transit soon,” said Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago in an interview.
Mayor EdSa also reiterated the importance of discipline among drivers and commuters whom he urged to always observe traffic and road safety regulations.
The CPOSCO has also created Facebook page “Public Order & Safety Coordinating Office-CPOSCO” to keep the public updated on their programs and announcements, as well as the real-time traffic situation in major thoroughfares.
Through this page, the office is also ready to hear suggestions and address complaints from the public.
The CPOSCO was institutionalized in 2016 and is currently headed by Officer-in-Charge Raymond Del Rosario.
