CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – This city’s chief of police and another officer in its force were awarded the PNP Medalya ng Kagalingan in simple ceremonies last week at the Pampanga Provincial Police Office.
Lt. Col. Paul Ynigo Gamido, City of San Fernando’s top cop, and Cpl. Ed Panlilio of the city police drug enforcement unit received their respective awards from Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda and Police Regional Office-3 director Brig. Gen. Valeriano De Leon.
Gamido and Panlilio were recognized for their “meritorious and invaluable services” rendered during the conduct of an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Panipuan on Oct. 02 which led to the arrest of a high-value target in the anti-drug campaign identified as Denniper Palaganas Sanchez, and two others.
The two officers were also commended for the confiscation of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of some P400,000.
Earlier, on Sept. 3, three other high-value targets for illegal drugs were also arrested by the police in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Lourdes that yielded a block of dried marijuana leaves and two medium-sized heat-sealed plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, among others.
Gamido presented to De Leon a Parul Sampernandu (San Fernando Christmas lantern) as the city police’s token of appreciation for the regional director’s support.
Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago commended the police officers and expressed his continuous support to the campaigns of the department to maintain order and discipline in the city.
“Itong karangalan na ibinigay ng ating PNP ay patunay lamang na hindi tayo tumitigil sa kampanya natin kontra iligal na droga kahit nasa gitna man tayo ng pandemya. Dahil, uulitin ko, hindi lang Covid-19 ang kalaban natin ngayon, marami pang ibang nandiyan pa rin ang kalamidad at sakuna, mga krimen at ang droga kaya sinusubukan nating pagtuunan ng pansin at aksyon ang lahat ng aspetong ito,” the mayor said.
