(SOLO PARENTS, CHILDREN EMPOWERMENT. City of San Fernando officials, headed by Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago, pose with some 500 Fernandino solo parents during the awarding of their educational assistance on March 22, 2019 at Heroes Hall.)
An educational assistance is now at the hands of Fernandino solo parents and their children, a fruit of the effort in the education aspect of the city government led by Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago.
Tagged as “Educational Assistance to Solo Parents and their Children,” this newly-established project was a brainchild of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO). It was staged on March 21, 2019 at Heroes Hall.
Solo parents in this capital city, whose children are currently in Grades 1 to 8 in schools, were granted with a P2,000 assistance which will be used for the children’s education expenses.
For the project’s premiere, some 500 solo parents were able to avail, and the CSWDO said it hopes for the project to be staged annually so more beneficiaries will be accommodated.
With education being among Santiago’s top priorities, thousands of young Fernandinos have been granted educational assistance, from scholarship and subsidy programs to free college education.
