To ensure and promote meat safety for all, the City Government of San Fernando, thru the City Agriculture and Veterinary Office, held various activities in celebration of the Meat Safety Consciousness Week.
Last October 20, CAVO conducted Palengke Tour and inspection of the city’s public and private meat markets in partnership with the National Meat Inspection Service.
The said agencies also held orientations on October 21 and 23 for poultry dressers and hogs and large animal butchers to re-educate them on proper meat handling and good manufacturing practices.
Streamers and information education campaign materials were also distributed to inform meat consumers about issues on meat safety and protect the public against direct and indirect hazards brought by unsafe meat.
With this year’s theme “Sa ano mang panahon, malinis na karne aming layon,” Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago and CAVO strongly urge the public to only buy meat from reputable meat shops and meat stalls certified by the NMIS and the LGU.
